  • Leave London with the German airline Lufthansa and change planes in Frankfurt.
  • Night and meal on board.
Discover the city, a local Japanese restaurant and Hamarikyu Japanese garden Jour 2 – Tokyo

  • Arrive at Tokyo – Narita International Airport. You will be met at the airport by an English-speaking assistant who will accompany you as you take the bus to transfer to your hotel, located in the centre of Tokyo.
  • Once you have settled into the hotel and have had some time to relax, head out for a first glimpse of Tokyo on your own.
  • Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
  • Spend the night in the 4* The Prince Park Tower Hotel, located in the central district of Shiba (or similar).

  • This morning, you will get to know the most popular mode of transport in Tokyo: the metro, which is well worth a visit in itself as it is the most modern and best organised underground in the world!
  • With a English-speaking guide, you will go to Shinjuku district to see a bird’s-eye view of Tokyo from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building observatory. Admire the view of the Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower. The building was designated “2008 Skyscraper of the Year” by the jury of the Emporis Skyscraper Award, which rewards architectural excellence for buildings over 100 metres high.
  • You will then stroll around Shinjuku Park and visit the famous Cocoon Tower.
  • Then, you will visit the modern districts of Harajuku and Omotesando, where you can enjoy architectural wonders, showcasing some of the biggest international fashion brands. You will see the shops of hhstyle.com / Casa, Christian Dior, TOD & Hanae Mori, for which the building was designed by the architect Kenzo Tange, the Prada Aoyama boutique, which has a very original facade, but also the buildings of the Japanese Nursing Association — One Omotesando, Spiral Building, La Collezione.
  • You will then visit Omotesando Hills and the Shibuya district with its neon lights and giant television screens, but also its small pedestrian streets.
  • Have lunch during the visit and dinner at your leisure.
  • Spend the night in the 4* The Prince Park Tower Hotel (or similar).
Visit Kamakura, its temples and shrines Jour 4 – Tokyo

  • You will head out for another day exploring the city using public transport with your English-speaking guide.
  • You will start with Ginza, the luxury district of department stores, but above all an amazing walk through modern architecture as many international brands commissioned world-renowned architects to design their buildings.
  • The elegance, innovation and sometimes boldness of the architecture of the stores are often equal to the brand’s fame. That is why you will particularly enjoy the Sony building, the Hermès store – one of the most charming of Renzo Piano’s creations, nicknamed “the glass cathedral” – the Lanvin store, the Louis Vuitton Mallertier store, as well as the Tokyo International Forum and the Opaque store. This part of the visit will end with the Kabuki theatre and its Baroque facade.
  • Then, you will continue the visit with the district of Roppongi, which is famous for its nightclubs. You will visit Roppongi Hills, a giant, luxurious complex built in 2003 and crowned by Mori Tower, which houses a shopping centre as well as a modern art museum that you will also visit.
  • Lunch during the visit and dinner at your leisure.

  • Today, you will discover another side of Tokyo: districts with a more traditional architecture.
  • Still with your English-speaking guide, you will go to Yanaka district. Having survived the earthquake in 1923 as well as the bombing during World War Two, many wooden buildings still remain in this district alongside temples and shrines.
  • You will walk around the main shopping street, the cemetery, SCAI The Bathhouse museum (a former bathhouse, which has been turned into one of the most prestigious art galleries in Tokyo) and Asakura Choso-kan museum the former studio and home of Asakura Chose, the father of modern Japanese sculpture.
  • Finally, you will stroll around Ame-yoko market street in Ueno one of the most picturesque, authentic and colourful streets in Tokyo, and visit the International Library of Children’s Literature.
  • Have lunch during the visit and dinner at your leisure.
  • Spend the night in the 4* The Prince Park Tower Hotel (or similar).

  • You can choose between having the day to yourself to visit Tokyo on your own at your own pace, or select one of many possible trips in the afternoon:
  • A half-day tour of the Asakusa district with an English-speaking guide (additional charge of 20 Euros (about 17 GBP) per person including transport and visits )
  • A half-day tour of the Odaiba district with an English-speaking guide (additional charge of 35 Euros (about 30 GBP) per person including transport and visits)
  • A half-day tour of the Akihabara district with an English-speaking guide (additional charge of 50 Euros (about 43 GBP) per person including transport and visits)
  • There are still so many things to discover in Tokyo!
  • If you would like to walk around green spaces, start with Ueno Park, very popular with Japanese people, where you will find many museums.
  • Yoyogi Park, where you will find Meiji-jingu shrine, is also a haven of peace within the city and is also well worth a visit. Finally, do not miss the Imperial Palace Gardens where you can enjoy a pleasant stroll.
  • If you like historical, working-class districts, walk around Asakusa, where you can admire Senso-ji Temple and Kaminarimon gate in which hangs a gigantic red lantern.
  • Finally, we recommend Odaiba district, on an artificial island, where you can have dinner in a restaurant overlooking Tokyo Bay and the amazing Rainbow Bridge.

The 4* Prince Park Tower Hotel is located in the heart of Tokyo, in Shiba park, a stone’s throw from Tokyo Tower. The rooms have a luxurious, refined decor and offer a panoramic view of Tokyo. They are extremely well equipped with flat screen LCD Plasma television, mini-bar and Wi-Fi access. The hotel has no less than fourteen restaurants serving various international and Japanese dishes. You can also enjoy the indoor hot baths, the sauna, the jacuzzi, the indoor swimming pool and a fitness centre. There is also a spa where you can receive wonderful massages.

    • If a hotel mentioned in the program is not available, a hotel in a similar category will be booked.
    • The visits mentioned in this program are merely suggestions. Of course, you can allocate your free time as you wish and visit other towns near Tokyo and Kyoto apart from those mentioned in the itinerary.
    • Most of the lunches and dinners in this tour are at your leisure to allow you can appreciate the diversity of Japanese cuisine according to your tastes and wishes. Please note that it is very easy to find food in Japan as there are many little restaurants offering a wide variety of dishes. Furthermore, simple, filling meals are inexpensive. Bon appetit!

    • Are you coming to Japan in winter?
      Bring warm clothes as the winter temperatures in Tokyo are similar to those in Paris.
      If you are travelling to the north of Japan in winter, to the west coast or to the Japanese Alps, bring clothes adapted to extreme temperatures since cold winds from Siberia often blow over Japan!
      A real Northern experience!
    • Are you going to Japan in summer?
      Please note that the weather will be very hot and humid! Pack your summer clothes but do not forget to bring an umbrella, especially in June and September, as well as warmer clothes for the cool evenings or for the north of Japan. Do not forget your sunglasses, hats and swimming costumes!
    • Are you going to Japan during the intermediary seasons: spring and autumn?
      Do not hesitate to bring summer clothes (shorts, swimming costumes, T-shirts, light shoes) as well as winter clothes (umbrella, jeans, jumpers, jackets and closed shoes) as the temperatures are mild in the south of Japan but cooler in Tokyo and the north.
    • Are you stopping off in Asia on the way there or on the way back?
      In this case, to avoid standing out in Hong Kong in your ski-suit or winter jacket, pack T-shirts, shorts and light shoes.
