Jour 1 - London / Osaka Scheduled flights to Osaka, possibility of a stopover in an Asian city
- Leave from London for Kansai – Osaka International Airport on a scheduled flight in economy class.
- Night and meal on board.
- Do not forget that it is entirely possible to stopover off in Asia, Europe or the Middle-East for one or more nights to spice things up, relax and discover a new destination, on the way there or on the way back.
- Depending on your preferences, choose from our partner airlines:

Jour 2 – Osaka Discover Osaka Castle and Umeda district
- Arrive at Kansai - Osaka International Airport. Once you have reached your hotel in the town centre and have had some time to relax, you will leave to start discoving Osaka.
- Fall in love with this dynamic city which is a pleasure to stroll around.
- Start by visiting Osaka Castle,a beautiful building with lovely gardens, which was replicated after World War Two.
- Then stroll around the lively district of Umeda.
- Do not miss the incredible panoramic view from the famous Floating Observatory on the roof of the Umeda Sky Building, the most futuristic building in the city. You will find many shops and delicious restaurants in this neighbourhood.
- Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
- Spend the night in the 4* Granvia Osaka Hotel in Osaka (or similar).
Jour 3 – Shirahama Bathe in the Saki no yu onsen on Shirahama beach
- In the morning, take the train to discover the southernmost tip of the Kii Peninsula. There, the jagged coastline of the Kumano region opens up in a series of little ports and wild creeks in the blue water of the Pacific Ocean.
- Stop off in Shirahama, an ideal first halt in the region of Kumano, which is famous for its wonderful white sand beach.
- As you look at the sea, bathe in the little Saki no yu onsen, one of the oldest and most famous in Japan, which was built in a basin on a rocky cliff, which is directly filled by a hot spring. This open-air pools are set in an idyllic setting as they open up on the Pacific Ocean, which spreads out as far as the eye can see.
- In the Ginza Dori main street ,enjoy lunch in the little Ashi yokochô restaurant ,where the tables are laid over a shallow pool of water. You will eat with your shoes off and your feet in the water!
- Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
- Spend the night in the 4* Seamore Hotel in Shirahama (or similar).
Jour 4 – Ile de Nakanoshima Relax in the island and in its hot springs
- You will take the train to Kii-Katsura station. From there, you will take a little boat to a secret, unspoilt area.
- Spend a relaxing day on Nakanoshima Island, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. You can stroll around the lush countryside of the island and enjoy the various indoor and outdoor hot baths along the coast, which offer an incredible view of the Ocean.
- Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
- Spend the night in the 4* Nakanoshima Hotel in Shirahama (or similar).
Jour 5 – Nachi No Taki Nachi no Taki Falls and Kumano Nachi Taisha shrine
- Today your own private car with chauffeur will take you into the heart of the Kii Peninsula. Discover the sacred shrines along the pilgrimage trails in the region of the Kii Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which connects the Kumano shrines to Mount Koya.
- After walking under a torii, a symbol of the sacred nature of this site, discover Nachi no Taki Falls. This waterfall is 133 metres high and 16 metres wide and seems to be born from the mountain covered with black cedars.
- At the top of the mountain, discover Kumano Nachi shrine Taisha, which was built to honour the deity of the fountain and the mountain kami.
- In the little village of Shingû, you will discover Kumano Hayatama taisha shrine and its incredible bright-red pavilions.
- Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
- Spend the night in the 4* Fujiya Ryokan in Kawayu Onsen (or similar).
Jour 6 – Yunomine Onsen Kumano Hongû shrine and hot springs
- This village is one of the oldest in the region. It is built along a torrent in the heart of a wooded valley.
- You can visit Kumano Hongû Taisha shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is reached by a series of big stone stairs. Located on the edge of a mountain, this shrine’s architecture is typical of Shinto shrines: it is built with natural materials, with no finishings, and melds into its natural surroundings.
- Spend the afternoon in the baths of Yunomine Onsen that are filled by the region’s many hot springs.
- In the main street, taste eggs that you can cook yourself in a pool of 90°C water from a hot spring.
- You can also enjoy a bath in the Tsuboyu, a 12th century hut. The water in this onsen is said to change colour seven times a day. From the bath, you can enjoy a lovely view of the river, on your own or with your partner, for 30 minutes.
- Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
- Spend the night in the 4* Adumaya Ryokan in Yunomine Onsen (or similar).
Jour 7 – Mount Koya Public baths (sentô), Okuno-in Cemetery and Mount Koya
- This morning, your private car with chauffeur will take you to one of the most sacred sites for Japanese spirituality: Mount Koya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- On the way, you will stop off in a sentô. A real Japanese tradition, this public bath is directly filled by natural springs.
- On a hill 900 metres above sea level, surrounded by eight mountains, the bonze Kukai built the first religious community in Japan in the 8th century.Mount Koya eventually became the main centre of the Shingon Buddhist sect who believe that spiritual enlightenment can be reached during life. Mount Koya now represents over more than 110 temples.
- Visit the most important and most iconic temples: Kondo and Kongobuji which manage the 3,600 temples of the Shingon sect.
- You will mostly stroll around Okuno-in Cemetery, where you can find over 200,000 tombstones of samurai and famous people resting in the shadows of a dense forest of age-old cedars.
- Spend the night in a shukubo in a monastery, where you will share the monks’ vegetarian meal.
- Spending the night in the monastery is a unique experience: you can sleep in the Japanese-style on a futon and tatami mats in a relaxing atmosphere.
- Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
- Spend the night in the 4* Rengejo-in Monastery in Mount Koya (or similar).
Jour 8 – Yoshino Discover the village of Yoshino, Kinpusen-ji temple and the residence of the Emperor Go-Daigo
- Get up early to attend the monks’ prayers in your monastery. Then, enjoy a vegetarian breakfast with the monks before leaving in your private car to discover the little village of Yoshino.
- Perched on the top of mountain, this little village is very popular in spring for its beautiful cherry blossoms.
- Visit Kinpusen-ji and its main pavilion, Zao-dô, which is one of the most imposing wooden buildings in Japan.
- Continue with Yoshimizu-jinja temple, the former residence of the Emperor Go-Daigo. This explains why its architecture resembles that of a 14th century palace. Inside, you can admire a collection of armour and partitions.
- Take the time to stroll around Gunpô-en, a delicate garden deisgned by tea master Sen no Rikyû in the 14th century.
- Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
- Spend the night in the 4* Sakoya Ryokan in Yoshino (or similar).
Jour 9 – Hase / Nara Hase Monastery and road for Nara
- In the morning, enjoy that magic of the small town of Yoshino, then, on the road to Nara, visit the Hase Monastery, first built in the 5th century. A very long staircase lined with lanterns will lead you to this large Buddhist site where over 30 pavilions of the Shingon and Buzan sects are built on the side of the mountain.
- In a beautiful natural setting, admire the houses built on stilts, the statue of Kannon and the bright red pavilion that make this monastery an exceptional site.
- In the afternoon, you will leave for Nara, where you will spend the night.
- Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
- Spend the night in the 4* Nikko Nara Hotel in Nara (or similar).
Jour 10 – Nara Nara Park, Gango-ji and Todai-ji temples
- Spend a pleasant day in the small town of Nara. Founded in the 8th century, Nara was the first real capital of Japan from 710 to 784. Forty kilometres (about 25 miles) from Kyoto, Nara is also a cultural hotspot, which houses many UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
- Stroll around Nara Park, where thousands of deer roam freely.
- As you enter the Park, do not miss Kôfuku-ji temple, which is comprised of ten buildings, including a beautiful five-storey pagoda dating back to 1426.
- Next, visit Todaiji temple where you can see the largest bronze Buddha in Japan.
- Then, walk through the forest until you reach Kasuga shrine. Built in 768, its bright red buildings create a strikingly beautiful contrast with the surrounding greenery. Wrapped in light, the shrine shines brightly thanks to the 1,800 stone lanterns that line its path and the thousands of metal lanterns hanging from the corridors eaves.
- In the town centre, Nara-machi district is a lovely place for a stroll. This maze of narrow little streets houses local craft shops. Make the most of this time and visit Gango-ji temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- In the evening, you will leave for the former capital of Japan: Kyoto.
- Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
- Spend the night in the 4* New Miyako Hotel in Kyoto (or similar).
Jour 11 – Kyoto Temples and shrines, Gion and Pontocho districts
- Spend two incredible days in the jewel of Japanese cities, just enough time to discover the wonderful historical and cultural heritage of the former capital.
- On your first day, your English-speaking guide and your private car will accompany you as you visit the most beautiful temples of Kyoto. You will discover UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as the famous Kinkaku-ji, better known as the Golden Pavilion since this elegant building is entirely covered in gold leaf, as well as Ryoan-ji temple, famous for its Zen garden, which is an invitation to pause and to meditate.
- A little further on, Ninna-ji houses beautiful structures: a palace surrounded by greenery as well as a small pagoda. In the eastern part of the city, visit the most imposing temple in Kyoto: Kiyomizu-dera, a beautiful wooden structure, perched on the side of a cliff and balancing on incredible stilts.
- Finally, as night falls, walk around the narrow alleyways of Gion, Kyoto’s historical district where you will find beautiful wooden teahouses hosting extremely refined dinners. You may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of one of the Geisha who still live and work in this district.
- On the other side of the river, in a parallel street, you will find plenty of places to eat in the charming Pontocho district.
- Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
- Spend the night in the 4* New Miyako Hotel in Kyoto (or similar).
Jour 12 – Kyoto Temples and shrines, Nijo castle, Arashiyama district and the "Pomme" cafe
- With 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Kyoto still has many wonders in store for you!
- If you like temples, shrines and gardens, you are in luck: Kyoto has over 2,000 of them!
- In the town centre, we recommend Heian shrine, which has a gigantic red Torii at the entrance as well as one of the most beautiful gardens in Kyoto, and the Silver Pavilion and its lovely moss garden.
- In the outskirts of the city, visit the famous Fushimi Inari Shrine where thousands of red torii straddle a network of trails over a few kilometres in the midst of a dense forest.
- If you love beautiful traditional Japanese buildings, do not miss the beautiful Nijo castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its beautiful landscape garden.
- If you like shopping, you will love the Kyoto Handicraft Centre which sells a wide range of local handicrafts: you will find prints and fans as well as high-quality kimono and yukata. Furthermore, the town centre is full of modern boutiques, especially in and around the Teramachi shopping street.
- If you like nature hikes, discover the Arashiyama district and its beautiful bamboo grove: Sagano forest.
- Not far from there, do not miss Tenryû-ji temple, one of the five big Zen temples in Kyoto. Its garden represents a dry waterfall of rocks flowing into a pond in the shape of the Chinese character “heart”.
- North of the city, stroll along the Philosopher’s Walk and enjoy a pleasant walk by a charming little canal, which is spectacular when the cherry trees are in bloom.
- Take the time to enjoy a cup of tea and taste the delicious cakes at the “Pomme” cafe , which is reminiscent of Paris of a past age.
- If you like animals, climb upIwatayama mountain in the Arashiyama district, where hundreds of monkeys roam freely. Admire the incredible view of Kyoto!
- Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
- Spend the night in the 4* New Miyako Hotel in Kyoto (or similar).
Jour 13 – Tokyo Cruise on the Sumida River, Ginza, Akibahara and Odaiba districts
- Tokyo, the charming capital, is finally yours to discover!
- Take a cruise on the Sumida river and enjoy the incredible view of Tokyo, which will take you to Senso-ji Temple in the Asakusa working-class district.
- Then, discover the Akihabara district, also known as Electric Town, where you will find state-of-the-art electronics and shops selling manga and figurines.
- As night falls, admire the colourful neon lights of the Ginza district, which is renowned for housing all the international fashion brands! In the Sony Building, you will find a showroom where you can test all of the brand’s latest gadgets!
- In the evening, discover Tokyo by night and go to Odaiba district, which is on an artificial island.
- Enjoy dinner in a restaurant overlooking the lights of Tokyo Bay and the Rainbow Bridge.
- Lunch and dinner at your leisure.
- Spend the night in the 4* Pacific Hotel in Tokyo (or similar).
Jour 14 – Tokyo Tsukiji Market, Shinjuku district, Harajuku and Shibuya and Yoyogi Park
- In the early morning, stroll around the largest fish market in the world — Tsukiji Market — where thousands of different kinds of fish are sold every day! For breakfast, you can even try the freshest sushi imaginable at the Daiwa sushi restaurant, located inside the market!
- For a bird’s-eye view of the city, start with the Shinjuku district and go up to the 45th floor of Tokyo City Hall, which offers a panoramic view of the city! On a nice day, you may even see Mount Fuji in the distance!
- Then, stroll around the relaxing greenery of Yoyogi Park, a haven of peace inside the city, where you will find Meiji Jingu shrine.
- Then, wander along the colourful streets of Harajuku, the fashion district for young people, where you will find many shopping opportunities!
- Not far from there, walk down Omotesando Avenue, Tokyo’s Champs-Elysees, where you will find many fashion and luxury boutiques where you can enjoy a spot of last minute shopping.
- As the day comes to an end, explore the famous Shibuya district, renowned for having the largest intersection in the world and for its thousands of blinking neon lights and giant TV screens that are never turned off! We recommend you have dinner in one of the many restaurants in this area: there is something for everyone!

Jour 15 - Tokyo / London Back to UK

- The visits mentioned in this program are merely suggestions. Of course, you can allocate your free time as you wish and visit other towns near Tokyo and Kyoto apart from those mentioned in the itinerary.
- Most of the lunches and dinners in this tour are at your leisure to allow you can appreciate the diversity of Japanese cuisine according to your tastes and wishes. Please note that it is very easy to find food in Japan as there are many little restaurants offering a wide variety of dishes. Furthermore, simple, filling meals are inexpensive. Bon appetit!
Climate
- Are you coming to Japan in winter?
Bring warm clothes as the winter temperatures in Tokyo are similar to those in Paris.
If you are travelling to the north of Japan in winter, to the west coast or to the Japanese Alps, bring clothes adapted to extreme temperatures since cold winds from Siberia often blow over Japan!
A real Northern experience! - Are you going to Japan in summer?
Please note that the weather will be very hot and humid! Pack your summer clothes but do not forget to bring an umbrella, especially in June and September, as well as warmer clothes for the cool evenings or for the north of Japan. Do not forget your sunglasses, hats and swimming costumes! - Are you going to Japan during the intermediary seasons: spring and autumn?
Do not hesitate to bring summer clothes (shorts, swimming costumes, T-shirts, light shoes) as well as winter clothes (umbrella, jeans, jumpers, jackets and closed shoes) as the temperatures are mild in the south of Japan but cooler in Tokyo and the north. - Are you stopping off in Asia on the way there or on the way back?
In this case, to avoid standing out in Hong Kong in your ski-suit or winter jacket, pack T-shirts, shorts and light shoes.
