Matsumoto

Matsumoto is a small town in Chubu Province, south of Nagoya and north of Nagano. It is on a plateau surrounded by many mountains and is one of the gateways to the Japanese Alps. This small provincial town can be reached by taking the JR train from Nagoya, which crosses the beautiful Kiso Valley in 2 hours. The journey is marked by the large number of vines that can be seen from the train. The local delicacy is without a doubt wasabi, as this region houses the biggest farm to produce this vegetable. The town’s main monument is its castle, which is one of the most beautiful castles in Japan.
