Himeji

Himeji is mostly famous for its castle, one of the most beautiful castles in Japan, which is said to resemble and possess the beauty of a white heron spreading its wings. It is considered the most beautiful castle in Japan and is undoubtedly one of the rarest as it has been spared from fires, earthquakes and the destruction of war. Its white walls are a perfect contrast to the black castle of Okayama, 50 km (about 30 miles) away.
