Uchiko

Uchiko is a small town south of Matsuyama on the JR line that connects Matsuyama and Yawatahama. As you exit the station, you will notice an old steam engine from the beginning of the century. The town’s main attraction, Yokaichi street, is a fifteen-minute walk from the station. During the Edo period and the first few years of the Meiji Restoration, Uchiko was an important production centre for plant wax, also known as rô.
